ABC News Frank Deshon buys the whole town of Hebel in SWQ

Frank Deshon is a legend in Hebel; you might call him "the people's king".

Hebel is in south-west Queensland, about four kilometres north of the border with New South Wales on the Castlereagh Highway.

Blink, and you might miss it, but for the locals, the local businesses are at the centre of everything they do.

This small community, of just 16 living in the town and 62 residents across the entire district, has suffered through seven years of drought, compulsory water buy-backs and finally a worldwide pandemic, which saw the nearby border slammed shut, and the town's life-blood of tourist dollars run dry overnight.
